Technology has made our world smaller and allowed us to work smarter and faster. With technology making our lives easier, it has also made it easier for us to build community. Webster’s dictionary defines community as a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. Whether you’re an executive or an entrepreneur, building community is a powerful tool in business. The ability to build community can build you an amazing team, and it can also build you a buying and referring customer base. The better you are at bringing people together, the more successful you will be at your endeavores. Here are a few tips to be a better builder of community:

1. Listen more and talk less – People love to hear themselves talk. Let them! By listening to your team and your customers, you not only show that you value them, but you also learn their needs and how to serve them.

2. Be relatable – The more your team and customers feel that you understand them and relate to what they go through, the easier it will be for them to connect with you and ultimately be influenced by you.

3. Serve – Even though you implement the above two tips, you will not see any results until you serve your team and customers. You have to take the connection and what you learned to give them what they want. If you give and serve without any expectation of getting anything return, you will get everything that you ever wanted out of your endeavors.
